Discover the Story Behind Rod & Hammer's SLO Stills Distiller's Reserve Rye Whiskey
Rod & Hammer's Slo Stills Distiller's Reserve Rye Whiskey is a delightful spirit crafted from a Beer mash and aged to perfection in new quarter casks, resulting in a robust and flavorful experience for your palate.
The story behind this exceptional whiskey begins with Rodney "Rod" Cegleski, a California surfer, joining forces with Australian Jackaroo, Hamlisch "Hammer" Marshall, at the SLO Brew brewery in San Luis Obispo. What started as experimentation soon bloomed into a full-fledged passion and business venture, culminating in the establishment of Rod & Hammer Slo Stills in 2019.
The inaugural release of Rod & Hammer's Slo Stills Distiller's Reserve Rye Whiskey in 2020 immediately garnered acclaim, earning a well-deserved spot as one of the Top 100 Spirits of the Year by Wine Enthusiast magazine. But what sets this whiskey apart? The mash bill features a unique "Beer mash" with 60% rye grain, ensuring precise control over the fermenting process. Furthermore, the whiskey is aged for twelve months in small quarter casks, each holding just fifteen gallons to maximize wood contact. This results in an accelerated maturation process, delivering a warm, caramel-and-spice profile akin to a much older whiskey.
In the realm of spirits, Rod & Hammer's Slo Stills Distiller's Reserve Rye Whiskey stands out for its innovative approach and exceptional quality. With each sip, you'll savor the craftsmanship and dedication that went into creating this remarkable expression of fine whiskey.
